Lightning Ridge

Potch and wood opal

Potch and wood opal

Description: A handful of opals from my day's wanderings. The grey "potch" is very common (the Astronomers Monument was paved with it!), while the black opal is what Lightning Ridge is known for. The brown is a peice of fossil wood preserved in opal. UK 50p for scale.
