Saturn; 16 Apr 2003, 21:30BST (20:30UT). The rings of Saturn are tilted by almost the maximum possible amount. The rings pass behind the planet at the top (south) and its shadow falls across them slightly to the right as the sun shines from our left. The dark Cassini Division that separates the inner & outer rings can also be seen. Minolta Dimage 7, 49.1mm @ f/3.5, afocal projection using 25mm eyepiece on 8.75inch f/7.3 Newtonian. 1/16s @ f/14, ISO400. Scale of 0.2 arc seconds (= approx. 1400km ) per pixel. 12 pictures stacked with Astrostack v2.1. |
